Melkweg is by far one of my FAV venues so far. I have been to this music venue countless times, and every time it was a good experience. 
When you visit this venue, it is VERY important to buy a membership (4 euros). This membership gives you entrance to the music venue. This membership is valid for a month (from the 1st day of usage). So if you are going to multiple shows held in this venue you are good with that membership.
Melkweg is a music venue with 3 rooms used for concerts and exhibitions;
- The Max
- Oude Zaal (Old Room)
- Upstairs
The Max is the largest room with a capacity of 1250 people. This room is used by artists with a larger fanbase.
Two entrances on either side of the room will lead you to the back of the room.
Before you enter the room (left side of the venue) you will see on the sides of the main hall that there are lockers to hold your belongings. (You will have to pay 1 or 2 euros for that by putting the coin into the locker) At the end of the main hall, there are restrooms free of use.
When you enter the music room there is a bar near the entrance and on the right side. You can even go a level up to see the show from above. The tribune has a U-form, so there is plenty of space and the ability to see the show from a good perspective.
Also next to the stage are stairs that will lead you to the tribune. In my opinion, it will give you a good 1st-row spot.
The sides of the rooms are leveled upwards, so it is possible for people standing on that side, to have a good few of the stage. (Honestly my fav thing of the room)
For the people who are physically disabled, there is a reserved spot. It is a good spot with a great few to see the stage and the rest of the room.
Oude Zaal is a room with a capacity of 650 people.

When you enter the music room, there is a bar on the right side to get some beverages.
This room has stairs in the back of the room that will lead you to the tribune. From there you can see the show from above.
Upstairs is the smallest room Melkweg has, with the capacity of 150 people (sitting) till 250 people (standing).
For this room, you LITERALLY have to go upstairs. You will have to take two stairs up to enter the room. On the 1st floor, you will find the lockers where you can place your belongings, and on the 2nd floor (where the music room is), you will find the restrooms free of use.
QUEUEING
Honestly, one of the best places to queue for a concert! Around the afternoon, staff members will put up barricades and signs for what queue is what.
To clarify; there will be an individual queue for VIP, Early entry, and regular ticket holders. Or when there are multiple shows of different artists, the staff members will put up signs to show which queue is what.
One of the reasons I prefer to queue at Melkweg is because in that same street is a police station. So it gives me personally more of a safe feeling when I’m arriving early or exiting late from the music venue.
Most times I was queueing, the number system applied. But not at every concert. It was more of a first-come, first-serve policy. If you left your spot for a long time without communication with the one before and/or after you, you will lose your spot.
In late 2019 there was a rule/policy that it is not allowed to queue many hours beforehand. You can only be at Melkweg’s property 2 hours before the concert. For my last two shows at that venue, the policy was there. But not sure if it’s still ongoing.
MY EXPERIENCE
My overall experience is very good with this venue. The staff members and security are helpful and respectful.
I even remember staff members giving us hot beverages because we were queueing since the early morning in the winter. It was very thoughtful of them to do.
As long as you are respectful towards the staff, don’t make a mess or cause inconvenience, there will be no hard feelings.
