Hii lovelies,
As I adore fashion very much, in my opinion we have to be mindful of the environment & help the community while being our fashionable selves.
The amount of clothing made over the years has so much history. It is a waste to lay it around, un- or barely touched.
I know fast fashion is something that has been going around for many years. As the name says, it is quick and easy to buy but also throw it away because it is low value.
I LOVE thrifting because you give clothing a new life. The thing also is that you are giving the clothes their value again. To re-sell your clothes creates an awareness that the clothes that you are wearing STILL HAVE value.
Trends come & go, but (possibly high) value clothes you are wearing right now, stay!
I grew up with two brothers & I could re-use their clothes. Simply cuz I liked their clothes way more than my own.
It gave me such comfort that is hard for me to explain.
When I was younger, around middle school to high school age, I had a low to none sense of style…
Over the years, I got that fixed & found my unique style. But with that, I still reuse my brothers’ clothes to this day.
The age difference between my brothers and me is 7 & 10 years. (Leroy & Richie if you may read this, shout out to you )
I did figure out that the clothes made in their generation are better quality than clothes made in this time of day.
Clothes made in past decades are taken care of because people back then knew their value. But it’s good for us now in this time to take over that principle!
In late 2018 the ‘trend’ to go thrifting picked up for many people. They are doing it for the low prices (nothing wrong with that tho). But notice that people see the value of the clothes but also help the community.
In 2019 I officially started thrifting clothes, and it feels so good. I truly recommend going to a local thrift shop or going to a kilo store/event. To check the beautiful clothing hanging ready for their next home.
In late 2019 I began with my TTT series (‘Trip To the Thrift’). To help spread awareness of thrifting & to show how much fun the experience is. Slowly I’m picking up where I left off (bc of the Pandemic) and continue thrifting again.
Upcoming post I will give you the rundown of stores I went to and give you my reviews of them!
Creators like AlexisSunshine83, Haleycorner, SarahDunk, and ThreadsObsessed inspired me to start thrifting.
I hope with my posts and videos I can inspire you as well 🙂
Let me know your experience & your thoughts about thrifting. I look forward to reading them <3
Happy thrifting & Stay Fashionable!
